[vtkusers] RGB is BGR on Sun/Ultra5 with Vtk 3.1.2 ?!?

We're experiencing strange colour behaviour with "official" Vtk, version
3.1.2 on Sun/Ultra 5 systems running Solaris 2.6. Vtk was compiled from
the sources on ftp://public.kitware.com/pub/vtk/vtk312Unix.tar.gz

When working at the console of these machines, a simple Tcl cone
example containing the line

  eval [coneActor GetProperty] SetColor 1.0 0.0 0.0

makes the cone appear in BLUE!

Changing the line into

  eval [coneActor GetProperty] SetColor 0.0 1.0 0.0

correctly makes the cone appear in green, while

  eval [coneActor GetProperty] SetColor 0.0 0.0 1.0

makes the cone appear in RED!

It seems as if RGB is turned into BGR.

When the script is run on the same workstation but rendering
is over a network, the colour behaviour is correct.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
Is there a fix?
