Allocate error message

Hi VTK folks,

A request to the powers-that-be, to add an error message in the Allocate
routines to indicate when memory allocation fails.  The particular
routine I am looking at is 
    vtkIntArray::Allocate(const int sz, const int ext).
Now a null value is returned, which isn't checked in some of the routines
which use it.  I end up just getting a segmentation fault.  This is in
VTK version 3.1, on an SGI IRIX 6.5.
