Being a graduate of Utah, I'd like to think it's reputable :)

Also, Stanford, UC/Davis, OSU, CMU, and Cornell come to mind.  Of course I just
insulted the entire South.

Attending conferences can be highly motivating... and let you talk to others
from those schools you apply to.
