vtkScalarBarActor oddity

I'll throw this question out to the group before digging into code...

I have an application that is doing some custom offscreen rendering and it
works just fine until I throw in a vtkScalarBarActor.  Then, when I resize the
windwo (renWin SetSize) and re-render, the text on the vtkScalarBarActor
disappears.

I tried to simulate this using the (tweaked) officeTube Tcl script (below), and
could only produce the following behavior:

  If we call 'ren1 Render' *before* the 'iren Initialize', the only thing drawn
is the text-less scalarBarActor - without the rest of the geom.  However, the
geom is invisibly there, since I can hit 'o' and pick actors.
If I comment out the Render, *everything* is drawn and correctly re-drawn when
I resize the window.

Can someone confirm/explain the former behavior?  (I'm using the CVS'd dist
from a few weeks ago, on an SGI).
