Bob,

  For my 2nd computer (Recently upgraded to RH 7.0), I was able to force a
downgrade of the gcc complier, and associated packages.  Took about 10
minutes to figure out all the dependencies.  Fortunately rpm's make things
easy.  I'll also be cutting VTK 3.2 rpm's today, if I get a chance.

  I will second David's comment about RedHat x.0 releases, it's always
best to give them a little bit of time to iron out the kinks.
