[vtkusers] Ascii files for slicing

Hello,
I am trying to put some ascii files in a aprogram that can slice 
them.Similar to the Viewer.tcl example,however, I can't seem to get any 
output.Does anyone know how I can read in these ascii raw data 
afiles?Secondly, I go to the website with the online man pages for help but 
somehow most of the examples they list there are not on the CD I bought with 
the book.Does anyone know where I can get these examples?Thanks,
