vtk2.4 and visual c++6.0?

I want to try vtk2.4 with microsoft visual studio's
c++6.0. I was wondering if someone can give me an
updated instruction on how to get the two work. I
tried the following, and it didn't work.

I downloaded vtk24core.exe, vtk24cpp.exe and
vtk24win32src.zip. I ran vtk24core.exe and installed
vtk24 under c:\program files\, then I ran vtk24cpp.exe

After that, I unzipped vtk24win32scr.zip, and put the
vtk\ folder under c:\program files\vtk24.

I read the Readme file in the vtk\ folder and tried to
follow the instrctions. But first, I didn't find
pcmaker.exe under \Debug folder, instead, it's in the
folder above Debug. After pcmaker completes, I ran
'nmake' under vtkbin\vtkdll. It generated an error
message which says that 'It can't find MSPDB60.dll' 

Can anyone give me some pointers on how to get it to
work?
