what is float and what is double?

hello all,
within the change from vtk2.3 to a nightly release, I realized, that some of
the functions, especially vtkCamera, changed their parameters from float
coordinates to double coordinates.

is there a "vtk2.3 -> vtk3.0 what has changed" document?
