specific color for each face of an element

I am using vtk to visualize FE meshes. I am interested in displaying
boundary conditions by setting a specific color for each elemement face. I
am working with unstrutured tetrahedral elements. I know how to specify a
color for each element by attaching a data value to the element and using an
appropriate vtkLookupTable. I would like to extend this to faces now. For
example, a given element (tet) may have a different boundary condition on
each of its four faces, therefore each face would be colored differently.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
