the "Bypass" feature in imaging

Lisa,

I would use the bypass feature but I did not know of it. Instead, I use
SetInput to change the pipeline connections in response to interactive
user selections. This is very, very useful when experimenting with
different combinations of filters.

Couldn't the bypass be implemented in a similar simple way? There would
of course need to be a few related changes to handle cases where two or
more filters in a row are being bypassed.
