Really nice! Good that you posted to debian-science@ as well. Lets hope
that in the end this could make it into an official release.

Our product is currently based on Xenial, because of its LTS status (among
other things), but sooner or later we'll bump the Ubuntu version. So it's
very nice that you took this effort. I might even try to take your
packaging and shoehorn it to work on Xenial, since the internal packaging
we're using now is quite crude (one big jumbo binary package).
