Yuuoto,

It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and thanks for considering
developing VTK.

Students can submit up to five proposals to GSoC (to the same or different
mentoring organizations), but they can choose only one if accepted. So I
recommend you do this to increase your likelihood of success - pick the one
you think you will enjoy the most, submit that first, if you've got the
time submit others.

As for the proposal:
See http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/GSoC_proposal_guidelines for what we are
looking for. As I've said before on the list already the more detailed your
plan the better since it will show us that you've given it careful thought
and have the skill to carry it through.

About kiwi viewer:
see:
- http://www.kitware.com/blog/home/post/860

About open foam:
- It won't hurt to know CFD, but it isn't really a requirement for the
catalyst project. This is more of a data structure conversion exercise
initially, once you get it running it gets more fun as you put it through
its paces.
-
http://www.paraview.org/files/catalyst/docs/ParaViewCatalystUsersGuide_v2.pdf
especially section 3.3
-
https://github.com/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-2.2.x/tree/master/applications/utilities/postProcessing/dataConversion/foamToVTK
- it might help to look at the vtkOpenFoam reader (either the one in
paraview or the one in parafoam as they share a common ancestor at some
point), but foamToVTK is probably easier to get your head around

good luck with your proposal(s)
