Hi,

I have been working off and on on this widget since widgets started appearing in VTK.  It's a 3D spline
made of 3 internal vtkCardinalSplines.  One can
scale it, spin it, translate it, move the spherical 'control' handles, dynamically change the line resolution and the number of handles, lock it
to a vtkPlaneSource (that moves).

I use it as a profile tool in combo with, you guessed it, a vtkImagePlaneWidget, so that
an on the fly histogram can be generated or just
some basic image data stats like mean, std dev, min,
max etc. etc. (the polydata representing the spline
via line segments and points can be tapped into)

If there is any interest, I will be happy to add
to VTK ...
