I added this feature last year. This is definitely mandatory on some 
platforms if you run an example from a statically linked vtk.exe (i.e. the 
commands are already there).

As bill said, check the other Wrapping/Tcl components
I guess vtkcommon will have to be changed too (it is checking for vtkObject)
