[vtk-developers] subclassing vtkLight?

How do you subclass a class like vtkLight for additional
functionality, rather than for implementation?  

I'd like to develop a new kind of light that provided 
alternative ways to set the light's color.  I thought 
it was trivial, but I don't think my light will know 
how to render itself.

Will the factory forever make the same shirts?
