Damian,

What you want to do is basically to process the data. To do so, the best
way is to create a filter that will process them into the pipeline. If you
work in Python, use the Programmable Filter. Take a look at the related
wiki page: http://www.paraview.org/Wiki/Python_Programmable_Filter
