[Paraview] number fields

I'm using the Paraview 4 64 bit on os x 10.6.  Every now and then i can not write in the number fields unless i re-load the state.  This has always been a problem but it is more noticeable now that i'm doing a lot more post processing.  Why does Paraview do that and is there a way to fix it?
