[Paraview] Strange tube behaviour

Hi,
I'm finding inconsistent behaviour between mac 4.0.1 (binary install) and
linux 4.0.1 which I compiled myself. The issue is to do with applying the
tube filter.

I load a streamline dataset (which is an ascii vtk polydata file) - these
streamlines are from MRI brain data, not fluid simulations. Streamlines
show up fine for both platforms. I then apply the tube filter - on the mac
this works fine, however the tube filter is greyed out on the linux
version, so I'm not able to select it. This also works on older versions
for the mac (3.12). Is this a known issue? Is there a hidden configuration
somewhere that I've missed?
