[Paraview] Viewing a slice as a 2D object

Hello,

when I extract a slice from a 3D data, how can I look at the slice as a 2D
plane/object? That is to say, how can I do things like probing, finding the
variable value at different points on the slice without giving its 3D
coordinates, because its not convenient to find out the exact 3D
coordinates of points on the slice.
