[Paraview] Basic molecular models

Hi all
I am an occaisonal use of Paraview with GRASS GIS.  I am looking at a call
for expressions of interest to do 3D modelling of chemical compounds.
Please comment on whether Paraview is suitable for basic work in this field,
or whether I should look at other open source software.
