[Paraview] glyphs and vectors (and why?)

  I have a scalar and a vector (I'm using ensight format).

  I want to plot the vectors on a countour of the scalar. So I make the 
contour and then select glyph. If I made the contour without calculating 
normals and gradients, the vector shows in the glyph filter. If, on the 
other hand, I tell the contour filter to calculate the normals and 
gradients (to have a prettier and smoother contour) the vector variable 
vanisheds from the vector select box on the glyph filter inspector.

  Is this a designed feature or a bug?
