No, you are not that stupid.  I think the resounding silence is because
no one has addressed this issue.  PV 2 has some camera controls,
including saving and restoring camera state that are not yet available
in PV 3.  This is more-or-less captured in bug #4157.  Although we plan
to do this, it has been a pretty low priority because it is not one of
the more commonly used features in PV 2.

If you need to specifically set a camera coordinate, there may be
indirect ways to do this.  I don't think programmable filter is one of
them, because filters do not have access to camera position.  There is,
however, a python shell (Tools -> Python Shell) that may have access.
Someone with more knowledge on the Python bindings would have to answer
that.
