[Paraview] Animation with more than 100 files

Thanks for the new version! It is working smoothly for me on linux so
far. However, when I have more than 100 numbered files in a series
(file_1.vtk,file_2.vtk,...,file_105,vtk), the slider does not appear, 
and Paraview does no longer treat my files as a time series.
This prohibits me from creating an animation of the simulation.

This is not a new problem, and I saw a note in the bugtracker  
(Bug #656) mentioning that this was a set limit to optimize performance.
I tried compiling from CVS today, as the bugtracker mentioned something
about it being fixed (2004-05-10), but I did not notice any improvement.
Is there a way around this, for me annoying limitation ? I frequently 
encounter small timesteps and many files.
