Unfortunately, we don't have detailed documentation on how to develop
applications based on VES. The code is relatively small though.  If you
have checkedout the source code have a look at the tests under
src/kiwi/Testing and src/ves/Testing

So it seems like that you have both ends not working? What version of VES
did you compile with what Version of ParaView. We don't have test for this
so it may be broken at this moment.
