[Insight-users] what does scale mean in fuzzyconnect

In fuzzyconnect algorithm ,there is a important concept about "scale".In paper "Vectorial scale-based fuzzy connected image segmentation",scale is seemly  defined as radius k centered at voxel c.My question is that : is the scale has any relation with mean and matrix
