All of those projects's *_common.cmake scripts support this:

  set(CTEST_TEST_ARGS PARALLEL_LEVEL 4)

They call ctest_test(${CTEST_TEST_ARGS}).  I see this is not
documented in the comments at the top though.  I'll fix that.
