Hmm - maybe VTK also has to be rebuilt, but I wouldn't have guessed that.

What is the first code line (after the comments) in
Insight/Utilities/MetaIO/CMakeLists.txt

IF(VTK_VERSION)
or
IF(VTK_SOURCE_DIR)

?
