I agree that PPT is propietrary and that PDF will be nicer,...

But, just for the record, in the meantime you can easily read PPT files
using StarOffice, which have recently become open source too, and
is distributed for Free by Sun.  It is present in almost all Linux
distributions.
It can be run on Windows95/NT too,

Anyway,... PDF will be nicer
