Hi everyone:
Please see some more comments from Noby below
He is correct that the Wiki is in bad shape and I know this (unfortunately
the college student I hired to work on the Wiki this summer did not help ;)
We will need to fix this but it is a question of when - I will put this on
the list for our management discussion tomorrow
Kevin

e_Release_Iteration-8
doesn't state option to take FLTK out of the build tree. FLTK is not
BSD, and some people with commercial interest will walk away if they
think it is neccesary.
Indeed, the Cmake in the current CVS tree "demands" FLTK installed.
It's you guys' call but if you need FLTK installed, you should have
instruction in the web page, and if not it should be set so in Cmake. I
prefer the second option due to licensing issue.
The wiki page contains all the releases in the past, and confusing. It
should have info only on 1) how to obtain base libraries (Cmake, vtk,
itk etc) 2) and step by step instruction to build Slicer. Imagine a
college student in a remote place with no knowledge of vtk, itk around
him/her but under a pressure form his/her professor to make something.
It would be nice to have CMake variables for building VTK and ITK
(sharelibrary on/off, parallel on/off, Tcl on/off). If it is default, it
is fine.
We need to also tell people that they have to download CMake 2.5. the
wiki says 2.2 but ti doesn't work with latest VTk and ITK.
Please take a look at genutiltest.tcl in Slicer3/Scripts. it is a one
line of code which does svn/cvs checkout, cmake, make, and ctest. one
comamnd will generates whole software.
