$ cmake --help-variable 'CMAKE_<LANG>_COMPILER_VERSION'
CMAKE_<LANG>_COMPILER_VERSION

Compiler version string.

Compiler version in major[.minor[.patch[.tweak]]] format.  This
variable is not guaranteed to be defined for all compilers or
languages.
