Do you have kdelibs and kdebase installed and working ?
Then you could just try to compile kdevelop using cmake, so checkout
kdevelop, and execute cmake in the kdevelop root directory. If you find
problems (you probably will) contact me at neundorf at kde.org .
I didn't try compiling kdelibs yet, kdebase is work in progress.
You can find the cmake stuff in kdevelop/cmake/.
There is a ruby script called am2cmake which does its best to convert all
Makefile.am's starting from the current directory into CMakeLists.txt.
Currently it displays a lot of debug information so that you will
probably miss the important messages. I'll add some documentation in the
next days and make it a bit more "userfriendly", I'll let you know.

To the cmake developers:
in the case you are interested in cmake becoming the build system for KDE
4, there is a big discussion going on at kde-core-devel at kde.org. There
are some open questions left, mainly about linking details which I am not
able to answer. So if you of you could join the discussion and (this was
the first post:
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-core-devel&m=111863680328844&w=2 )to clarify
the open issues it would be nice :-)
Currently it seems scons will make it.

Bye
Alex
