Attendees are expected to bring a high-end laptop computer with wireless connectivity. They will receive a CD of software as well as published copies of the Insight Software Guide (over 850 pages with illustrations) and the Visualization Toolkit User’s Guide. | |||

Course overview
Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on solving real-world research problems and on providing hands-on experience.
Attendees are expected to bring a high-end laptop computer with wireless connectivity. They will receive a CD of software as well as published copies of the Insight Software Guide (over 850 pages with illustrations) and the Visualization Toolkit User’s Guide.
Driving research problems to be addressed include:
- Small animal image analysis
- Tumor volume estimation and tracking
- CT/PET image registration
- Histology reconstruction
Technologies covered include:
- CT, MR, PET image processing
- Web-based image collection, distribution, and archiving.
- The Insight Toolkit for medical image segmentation and registration (ITK)
- The Visualization Toolkit (VTK)
- ITK's image registration tools, segmentation tools, and derived tools
- Kitware's VolView and ParaView applications
