Sathya,

You need to manually compile vtkProp.java (and maybe more):
% cd /local/skrishna/vtk/java/vtk
% javac vtkProp.java
(maybe just 'javac *.java')

and I assume your CLASSPATH includes  /local/skrishna/vtk/java
