Mark,

That is correct. The edition you're trying (which is a very
basic/minimal edition) doesn't have Slice filter in it and hence it
fails. Another editions is currently under works (called the Catalyst
Essenstials) which will include the Slice filter.

Ben, do you have an ETA when that'll be merged into ParaView git?

Mark, the creation of editions is not by editing the cmake.sh file,
but you running Python script in ParaView source. Creating new
editions is a little tedious and I am not sure we want to suggest that
to users. The idea is that there will a collection of editions that
should suffice typical use-cases and for anything more custom, the
ParaView team could help with the creation on new editions. In your
case, I think  the Essenstials edition currently under development may
work.
