[Insight-users] tensor file format for use with vtk

Hi,

Is there a way to write tensor (itk::SymmetricSecondRankTensor's) images to
files that can be read by VTK as tensors?

VTKImageIO does not currently have support for it.  MetaIO does not
explicitly record that the components are tensors according to this:
http://public.kitware.com/Bug/view.php?id=8805

Grepping the code shows that Nifti and NRRD have tensor support, but is
there a way to use these with VTK?
