We've already spent too much bandwith on this. Let's resolve it at the developers' meeting At UNC. If
need be, we'll bring it to a consortium vote.

This sounds good to me.   Think of it this way:

The SGI CC needs to be patched to run ITK.

This is not that far from OpenGL that needs patching on most Sun machines for VTK.
