Hi Folks-

Bill Hoffman turned me on to the cygwin environment for Windows.
Basically all the Unix tools (including gcc) conveniently precompiled. 
You can install it from the web directly...that way it is possible to run 
both M$ VC++ and gcc on your wintel machine.

Go to http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/download.html .It works
great with the Insight build process.

PS- The visual debugger gdb is also part of the package and is
called Insight strangely enough :)
