Thanks for the rule. 

What is the different between a ".particle" file and just reading x,y,z
coordinates into points
and then setting polydata->SetPoints(points). Whenever I want to use other
particle sets it doesnt work. Only when reading in the file from the zip
file, uploaded earlier, does it work. 

It gives me the error message: 

Filters\Geometry\vtkDataSetSurfaceFilter.cxx, line 167
vtkDataSetSurfaceFilter (000001C6444EBAD0): Number of cells is zero, no data
to process.
