[vtkusers] Vtkglyph3dmapper and colors/transparency

Is there a way to set the colors for different points in a glyph?  The examples show that it can be done for the vtkglyph3D but don't see any reference for the ability for the mapper.

In reality, I want to adjust the transparency level of different points in the glyph and the only way that I know to do this is to change the alpha channel of the color of the glyph point.
