[vtkusers] filter for smoothing 3D curves

Dear mailing list members,


Is there any filter in VTK that can smooth 3D curves with branching points, i.e. 
polydata consisting only of connected lines? All filters I tried seem to work 
only on polydata with faces. I'd need something like 
http://www.cs.utah.edu/~lavanyat/mmcs/tex/all/space_curve_smoothing.pdf
I could make it a closed loop but David Doria's Closed Loop Simplification 
(http://www.midasjournal.org/browse/publication/829) is just for 2D.

Any help or hints are very much appreciated
