[vtkusers] conversion .mat file to another format mha/mha/vtk

Hi VTK - Users :)

I generated a phantom  3d image in matlab. It is saved as mat file
I want to convert this data to other format for example : mhd, mha or nrrd
/ vtk.
I need to read it in itk/vtk .
I would appreciate for any help - good example.
