[vtkusers] Find Edge between Two Points

I am new to vtk. I need to find a way to detect an edge on an image. Since
the images that are used are very noisy, regular segmentation methods do not
produce desired results. 
So a user would select four or more points along the edge of the object, and
the system needs to connect those points along that edge, which is not
straight. Are there methods in vtk that could help me with this?
