SUMMARY:
If you follow mobile computing (iOS and Android), VTK, VES, and/or ParaView
the following announcement may be of interest to you. The new KiwiViewer
app is now available in both the Android Market and Apple App Store. There
is also a cool feature that enables ParaViewWeb to push geometry to the
KiwiViewer application. This application and supporting libraries are
available in open source form. Read on for details.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

The KiwiViewer applications has arrived in the Android Market and you can
now download it from
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kitware.KiwiViewer*. *

In this Android release, we've added new features and built-in
visualization demos, so definitely check out this app even if you're
already familiar with KiwiViewer for the
iPhone/iPad<http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kiwiviewer/id455271681?mt=8>
(we'll
release an app update to bring these new features to iOS owners shortly)
Some of the highlights include:

   - Built-in vis. demos, including a brain atlas viewer, time-series
   animation, and a 3D image slice plane widget;
   - ParaViewWeb connectivity (connect to a running session and receive
   geometry from ParaViewWeb, then view it locally on the mobile device
   without any further network access);
   - Easy access to all many datasets - you can open from DropBox or an SD
   card, or download from a URL, with the ability to load scenes consisting of
   multiple datasets.

For a description of features and supported file formats, visit the
KiwiViewer app documentation
page<http://kiwiviewer.org/kiwiviewer/help/documentation.html>.
If your favorite file format is not supported, please let us know! Contact
us at kiwiviewer at public.kitware.com. As an immediate solution, you can use
ParaView <http://paraview.org/> to convert files for KiwiViewer.

KiwiViewer isn't just for end users. It is an open-source project, powered
by VTK (the Visualization Toolkit) and VES (the VTK OpenGL ES 2.0 Rendering
Engine.) We encourage you to check out the
code<http://vtk.org/Wiki/VES/Developers_Guide> and
use it to develop your own mobile applications. Kitware can help you
develop advanced mobile apps; for inquiries, contact kitware at kitware.com.
