[vtkusers] Produce a large number of volume renderering images very quickly

Hi all,

I need to generate a large number of volume renderering images for my
algorithm optimizer for a very fast speed (1000 images per second).

My dataset is a 512x512x200 CT. renwin size is 104x104. Graphics card is GTX
480.

This is what I do:

renwin->SetSize(104, 104);
renwin->OffScreenRenderingOn();

for ( int i = 0 ; i < 1000 ; ++ i){
    // update camera position and focal position.

    renderer->Modified();
    renwin->Modified();
    renderer->ResetCameraClippingRange();
    renwin->Render();

    // Save result
}

I found renwin->Render() took 10ms. I read some papers they generate VR
images using Cuda with Geforce 8800. Cuda only took 1ms for generating
104x104 image with 512x512x200 database.

I am wondering whether renwin->render is the fastest refreshing approach for
offline rendering.

Regards,

superZZ
