[vtkusers] About vtkXMLDataSetWriter and its File Extension

Hi all,

 From VTK Documentation I can  read:
" vtkXMLDataSetWriter is a wrapper around the VTK XML file format writers.
Given an input vtkDataSet, the correct writer is automatically  
selected based on the type of input."

I can get the *Default* extension by writer.GetDefaultExtension ()
which is "vtk" (even for an XML writer !)
As the actual (internal) writer is determined from the InputDataObject,
why not, (or HOWTO),  determine an *Actual* Extension too.
Am I  missing something ?
