[vtkusers] Import .igs (IGES format) or .geo .msh (GMSH geometry)

Hello,
I'm new to VTK. I want to implement a system which can read .igs files.
While reading I understood that importing .igs files to VTK is not straight
forward and it will be difficult to implement it.
I can reproduce the inputs to GMSH geometry format (.geo or .msh) but I
cannot find a way to read GMSH format too. 
Do I miss something? Or is there a workaround for importing that kind of
files ?
