[vtkusers] How to use extract one object from DICOM images.

Hi,
I have a list of DICOM files of a spine and I want to export these in stl
format.
I used the classes that allow me to create a stl file from a list of images
DICOM.
Now I'd like to select only one vertebra from the entire spine.
Is there a method or class that I can use to select a single object? 
Any suggestion?
