[vtkusers] Know the value of skin while reading DICOM files

Dear all,

   I think my question is really stupid. Anyway, why all the codes that I
read about showing the skin uses the value 500 for contour filter and in my
dicom file it works only when I am using -800. Do I need to convert to
unsigned char? How do I know the correct value if am I always using dicoms
of the head?
