[vtkusers] a question vtk, python and threading

hi folks, just a little question: Is the patch from Charl Botha leader
of DRE project to vtk python wrappers on the threading section
(release the GIL when calling vtk method) applied in the standard vtk?
if no, why, there are any caveats?
