[vtkusers] using cygwin to build vtk

I have a 64 bit Windows Vista OS and I would like to build VTK using Cygwin.  
Does anyone have experience doing this or something similar?  
What libraries/etc do I need to download from Cygwin (as a minimum) in order to make this work? 
Are there any gotchas about doing this?
